Naked Lunch by William Burroughs

Naked Lunch

by William Burroughs

Burroughs made a big impression on me and when you get past the froth of celebrity namechecking that sometimes accompanies his persona rather than the work you find that he was a legitimate maverick. In the same way that poetry is not strictly a linear consciousness so too do Burroughs’ novels assail you all at once. When reading his books you may find it hard to explain explicitly what they are about however you can explain how they made you feel.

Naked lunch is a topological look at the timeframes, illusions, realities and primal drives that permeate altered consciousness. Forget the MTV 2 minute snapshot of this writer – read the book and go straight to the source.
